So you’ve taken the Star Ferry, partied it up in LKF, and gazed down on Hong Kong from Victoria Peak. Now what?

Even if this is your second, third, or twentieth trip, Hong Kong has lots to offer.

Catch your dinner in Sai Kung

Sai Kung is in the east side of Hong Kong and is known for its fishing villages. Along the main promenade, you’ll see advertisements for fishing tours, where they’ll take you out on a boat and fish together, then have a meal together back on shore. The restaurants’ fish tanks hold some pretty impressive fish.

See Exotic Goldfish

The Goldfish Market is both better than Ocean Park’s aquarium and free to visit.

Note: Mong Kok gets extremely crowded on the weekends.

Take Home a Local Souvenir

  • Carved seal. Ancient seal-carving is still alive and well. Go to Man Wa Lane (Chop Alley) in Sheung Wan to get a seal carved. You’ll need to come back a day later to pick up the seal.
  • Tailored suits and cheongsam.
  • Dried seafood. Wing Lok street in Sheung Wan has plenty of dried seafood markets you might not find in other places.

View Hong Kong From Up High

  • Check out rooftop bars Wooloomooloo in Wan Chai and Ozone in West Kowloon
  • Weekend Brunch with a 360-degree rotating view at the Grand Buffet.

  • Ah Meow Cat Cafe (Causeway Bay)
  • Café de Kitten (Mong Kok)
  • The Cats Tearoom (Tsuen Wan)
  • Rabbitland Cafe (Causeway Bay)

Get Outdoors

  • Dive off the cliff at the Sai Kung Rock Pools. Take bus (29R) or taxi to Sai Wan Pavilion. Take boat back to Sai Kung from Sai Wan Tsuen before sunset.
  • Beach BBQ at Shek O. Lots of beaches in Hong Kong have public BBQ pits, and Shek O is probably the most popular. You can rent equipment from a local store.
  • Surf at Big Wave Bay
  • Hike the Dragon’s Back
  • Rock Climb! There are tons of good outdoor spots around Hong Kong
